Attempted Burglary in Burke Home
BURKE, VA—Fairfax County Police have arrested a man that got caught attempting a break in at a Burke home Friday. Around 09:32 a.m., a resident in the 7300 block of Gist Court noticed the man prying open a window in her home. He fled when she yelled about calling police. Officers located the suspect and arrested him. John Dudash, 49, of Springfield was charged with attempted burglary. Police are searching for additional suspects in another burglary and larcenies in the West Springfield Police District: Read more hereWhile it is unfortunate that an attempted burglary occurred in a Burke home, I commend the resident for scaring off the burglar and notifying the police right away. Such constant vigilance is necessary and helps the community as a whole. I hope that by releasing the details of the attempted burglary, the police are able to track down the suspect and put him away for a while. I would hope that all individuals in the area make sure that they properly secure their homes in order to ensure their safety, and to prevent themselves and their possessions from becoming a tempting target for burglars. National Firearms Museum
The National Firearms Museum is located at 11250 Waples Mill Road in Fairfax VA. The museum is approximately 15,000 square feet, displaying roughly 2,500 guns for the public to view and learn. Funding for the museum is partially provided by the National Rifle Association of America (NRA), a 501(c)3 corporation. The museum was originally established in 1935 at the old NRA headquarters in Washington DC. It was later moved to its current location in 1998. The museum showcases seven centuries of firearms. A fun fact of the museum is that guns owned by Presidents John F. Kenney, Ronald Reagan, Theodore Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower are on display.
